Japanese brands keep releasing wider versions of their jeans, and my credit score is slowly dwindling as a result. The Flat Head with its D111, TCB with its Baggy 50s, and ONI with its 222 ‘Super Wide’; they just keep on coming. But one brand that has never shied away from a wider leg is Studio D’Artisan, and they’ve added another thick-cut jean to their ranks with the SD-104.

The SD-104 is now the widest jean in Studio D’Artisan’s ‘100 series’, a core collection that makes use of the brand’s proprietary unsanforized 15 oz. selvedge denim. The SD-104 expands on the brand’s longstanding SD-102 ‘loose straight’, with larger measurements across the thigh, hem opening, front and rear rise. It’s simply a bigger jean. Despite having a wider hem opening, the silhouette is still slightly tapered from the knee down to maintain a clean line.

Each pair is made in Japan and one-washed to remove most of the shrink, so you can wear ’em right out of the box. Iconic Studio D’Artisan arcuates adorn the rear pockets, complemented by the brand’s goatskin jean-pulling pig waist patch.

    Available at HINOYA for $280.
