Heatwaves come and go; leather doesn’t. That’s why Iron Heart stays dropping world-class leather jackets all year ’round. Latest in the ranks is the Savannah Jacket, made in collaboration with Simmons Bilt, an Oakland-based designer that manufactures end-tier leathers in Scotland.
The Iron Heart x Simmons Bilt Savannah Jacket takes the latter’s iconic ‘Roadster’ jacket and tweaks it to align with the Iron Heart collection. This means a slimmer cut that’s more tailored than boxy, and the omission of the curved yoke usually found on the Roadster. The result is a super clean leather perfectly geared for everyday wear, complete with charming vintage style. As with all Iron Heart gear, it’s rugged and moto-inspired, but you don’t need to know your clutch from your carburettor to slip this on.
The Savannah is built from 1.2- 1.3 mm Prairie Horsehide, combination-tanned in Germany to achieve a tight grain, firm hand, and matte finish. Many vintage motorcycle leathers were made from thick horsehide, which, as well as being super hardy, gains a lush patina with use. In other words, don’t baby this thing; wear it hard, and it will look all the better for it.
Made in Scotland, the jacket is lined with 100% cotton from Halley Stevenson over in Dundee. Each comes fitted with a heavy-duty brass zipper, handwarmer pockets, and an internal storage pouch.
